Nurturing Faith, Character, and Early Learning

Roots Academy’s Preschool Program is a five‑day, nurturing learning environment designed to cultivate faith, character, and foundational academic skills during a child’s most formative years. Grounded in Qur’anic values and child‑centered educational practices, our preschool focuses on developing confident, compassionate, and curious learners who feel secure, loved, and inspired to grow.

Our approach recognizes that early childhood is not only about academic readiness, but about shaping hearts, habits, and identity. Through repetition, hands‑on learning, structured play, and consistent routines, children develop a love for Allah, His Messenger ﷺ, learning, and community.

Admissions Philosophy & Process

To ensure we can appropriately support every child in our care, Roots Academy follows a structured admissions and screening process.

Students entering the Al-Noor Level are evaluated prior to admission to assess readiness for the program’s expectations, classroom structure, and instructional setting. Accepted students are enrolled under an 8-week probationary period, during which staff observe the child’s adjustment, participation, and overall fit within the learning environment.

Roots Academy is designed for children who can thrive in a group-based, structured classroom without the need for individualized or specialized support services. At this time, we are not equipped to provide special education services or therapeutic interventions. Families seeking individualized or one-on-one support may benefit from programs specifically designed to meet those needs.

Curriculum by Developmental Level

Al-Amal Level: 22 Months - 3 Years

This level focuses on gentle separation, routine-building, and sensory-based learning. Children are introduced to Islamic identity in a warm, loving environment through repetition, visuals, movement, and play.

At this stage, children:

  • Begin learning who Allah is and who Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is

  • Are exposed to short surahs, daily duaas, and Islamic vocabulary

  • Are introduced to the Arabic alphabet and sounds

  • Develop early social skills such as sharing, helping, and following routines

  • Build fine and gross motor skills, independence, and basic classroom habits

The emphasis is on comfort, consistency, and positive early associations with school and faith.

Preschool Entry Level - Al-Noor Level: Ages 3 - 5 Years

Al-Noor is designed for children who are ready for more structure while still learning through play and exploration. This level lays the groundwork for academic readiness while nurturing strong character and Islamic manners.

Students in this level:

  • Memorize selected surahs from Juzʾ Amma (30)

  • Learn Islamic manners, basic ahadith, duaas, and Names of Allah

  • Build confidence speaking and understanding Arabic

  • Begin early reading skills through Arabic letter recognition and phonics

  • Strengthen fine motor skills, early math concepts, and problem-solving abilities

Students are evaluated based on developmental readiness, with progress reports issued quarterly throughout the year.

Advanced Preschool – Al‑Huda Level

Al-Huda prepares students for a smooth transition into elementary school by strengthening spiritual understanding, Arabic literacy, and higher-level thinking skills.

In this level, students:

  • Continue Qur’an memorization with age-appropriate understanding and reflection

  • Learn how to practice their faith through prayer, adhkar, and daily actions

  • Read Arabic words and simple texts independently

  • Expand vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills

  • Develop leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving skills

  • Engage in early math, science, and organizational thinking

Each child is evaluated holistically, honoring individual strengths and developmental readiness, with progress documented through reports and a final report card.
