Curriculum Highlights

Each day balances spiritual enrichment with academic growth. Students benefit from:

  • Duha Prayer and Morning Adhkar

  • Qur’an understanding and Islamic studies

  • Core academic instruction taught by a qualified lead teacher in:

  • English Language Arts (ELA)

  • Math

  • Science and Social Studies (taught 2 times per week)

  • Arabic Language instruction with a focus on foundational vocabulary and reading skills

We maintain a low student-to-teacher ratio, typically no more than 1:12, to ensure personalized attention and meaningful relationships.

Family Roles & Expectations

  • Active communication and trust between staff and parents

  • Presence at check-ins, events, and collaborative efforts

  • Shared commitment to the spiritual, behavioral, and academic goals of the program

We believe that children’s after-school hours should be protected for family time, rest, and play. However, occasional at-home assignments may be given, especially in:

  • Qur’an review

  • Reading logs

  • Family-based projects (e.g., a service activity or nature journal)

We ask parents to support their child’s learning through consistent routines and encouraging home environments.

Roots Academy also encourages open communication and proactive partnership. Families who notice struggles or questions at home are invited to reach out early, as we believe in working together before concerns grow.

Behavior Levels & Consequences

At Roots Academy, we believe that children thrive in environments rooted in love, structure, and trust. We understand that every child is growing — emotionally, spiritually, and socially — and we see behavioral challenges not as failures, but as opportunities for tarbiya (gentle guidance) and growth.

The Prophet ﷺ said, “I was only sent to perfect noble character.” This prophetic model inspires us to lead with compassion while setting clear, healthy boundaries that help our children flourish.

Our approach to behavior is framed as a support system, not a disciplinary one. When a student needs help aligning with expectations, we respond with care, communication, and collaborative problem-solving.
